Sporting Kansas City Los Angeles Sport reviews
No Sporting Match, But Still Fun
If you've never been to Sporting Park, let me simply say that it is a gorgeous soccer-specific stadium and is hands down the best professional sports venue in the Kansas City area. This match (Sporting KC vs Colorado) got rained out but that doesn't mean it wasn't fun. Our tickets were in the standing room only section above the KC Cauldron and they, a long with the South Stand were partying and singing from an hour before kickoff was supposed to happen until after they had announced the match was postponed. I can say that I was disappointed there was no match but I've never had a better time at something that DIDN'T happen. During matches the atmosphere is even more intense and amazing. If you haven't experienced it, do yourself a favor and make it to Sporting Park as soon as possible.
Enjoyable outing, great atmosphere
This has been my year for attending professional football. In April, I went to London to attend an English Premier League match (QPR vs West Ham) and so I decided I should also go see the closest MLS team: Sporting KC.
The stadium was easy to find: west on I-70 to 435, then north a little ways. I did have to fumble around a bit to find the general parking, but a helpful attendant at a reserved lot got me going in the right direction. I was a bit surprised that there was free parking available. You have to walk a bit, but what the hey. There are closer lots available for pay.
The stadium is located next to a large shopping center and there are various eating establishment for a pre-game meal. There were a number of people tailgating in the parking lots too.
The stadium itself is nice. It is only a few years old, so everything is nice. This is a soccer-specific stadium, so the stands are nice and close to the pitch. I had a GA ticket for the south stands, located behind the one goal, so I had a nice view of the action at that end. The game was close to if not actually a sellout and the crowd was quite into the game. In front of my section was a group of people, presumably connected with the team, who served as cheerleaders. Not the kind you find in the NFL, but true cheerleaders to get the crowd going. Three had drums, the other two stood on a platform and had megaphones. The kept going throughout the game.
The game itself was entertaining, plenty of action and good plays. The home side prevailed 2-0, helped by some good saves by the keeper.
I will probably go again sometime.
Great Game, Venue, Food, and Service, Weird Seatin
First and foremost, it was a great game in an incredible stadium. The park is unbelievable. We had the Terrace or "Bud Light Corner" seats which are an open area with all you can eat and drink. The food was great but there are about half as many chairs as there are tickets to that section, so for the first 70 minutes of the match, we found ourselves trying to see around people who were also standing around, standing in front of chairs, or sitting in the high chairs. Eventually, people leave the game early and we were able to enjoy the last 15-20 minutes of the match from some chairs. I might not recommend this section but I definitely recommend the event itself!
